Homeopathy is the holistic science based upon nature’s law of cure i.e. Similia Similibus Curentur (let likes be cured by likes).
No real cure of any disease weather acute or chronic can take place without a strict & careful apprehension of the ascertainable characteristic symptoms of the individual case. Hence individualisation is the pre-requisite for eternal cure.
While interrogating the patient to gather the peculiar, rare, uncommon, characteristic symptoms of the case, the physician must be free from prejudice, attentive and fidelity in tracing the portrait of disease. This requires Keen observation with sound senses.
Dr Hahnemann; the founder of homeopathy mentioned general directions in the aphorisms 82-104 in his ‘Organon of Medicine’ which should be followed to trace the real picture of the disease.
But in case; the affection is an acute & rapidly developed disease, the chief symptoms are striking & easily evident to the senses & little time is required to trace the picture of the disease. EVERYTHING IS ALMOST SELF EVIDENT & hence in comparisons to chronic diseases, case taking in acute disease requires fewer questioning to construct the totality of the symptoms.
Case illustration of Atopic Dermatitis
A two months baby girl presented with skin eruptions since a week.
As it is difficult to trace symptoms in case of infants & children but the disease being acute one is self-evident through the look of the skin only.
Look of the skin: Moist skin eruptions exuding profuse serous discharge which gives out offensive smell. Hairs are glued & matted together. Thick leather like crust is also seen under which thick & white pus was noticed.
On enquiring the mother, it was found that she has recently undergone vaccination prior to the appearance of these skin complaints which is peculiar to the case.
The remedy prescribed was Mezereum 30CH, Single dose followed by saccharum lactose (placebo) considering the above mentioned case history & analysis.
The homeopathic remedy Mezereum 30CH gave inspiring results & success in this case in just five days.

CONCLUSION:
Homeopathy is not at all slow, many times it acts much faster than the modern medicines & the results are always persistent & permanent as homeopathy eradicates the disease from its roots, and the above mentioned case is an example. The duration of homeopathic treatment depends upon the nature, seat & chronicity of the disease as well as susceptibility of the patient.
